Black Rock City is a temporary city built of your wildest dreams. It is a place steeped in magic, art, creativity, and freedom. Everywhere you look, there is something outrageous to behold. It's a place where you love, laugh, and lose yourself. It's a place to heal, to create, to manifest things you only dreamed of. Black Rock City is my favorite city in the world. It is home to the Burning Man festival, a space that gives you the freedom to be whatever you want to be, if only for a moment. To wear what you want, to dance as silly as you want. No judgment. You are challenged on every level. You must face yourself and your boundaries.
This year, I was on a mission to honor my friend and my doggie that had both just passed away. I honored them at The Temple. I cried and joined hands with my friends. We supported each other, we healed together.
Friendship and community are an integral part of this experience. You see your friends at their best, and their worst. You are there for each other through the challenges you face, and your bond becomes stronger than you ever imagined. You have the MOST fun with your friends you can possibly have. You dance together to your favorite music as you watch the sun rise up and out of the playa ground. You cry together because it is so beautiful. You give. To everyone. And everyone gives to you.
There is nothing that compares to this experience. This was my 5th year at Burning Man and it was my most magical and healing yet. The playa surprised me with gifts of love and restoration beyond my wildest dreams.
I held hands with love itself, and my soul has been set ablaze. I'm a new girl, ready to take on whatever comes my way. Healed, strong. Ready.
